Job description

The Group Controller will be responsible for all accounting needs, tax reporting and financial reporting requirements for Egeria Group AG and various subsidiaries. The ideal candidate will support the Group CFO and in overseeing all accounting matters with an emphasis on financial reporting, integrating new technologies and finance transformation, liquidity management, controls and accounting processes, net asset value calculations, risk management, covenant and compliance monitoring.

Key responsibilities

  • Day-to-day operations and financial management of a Swiss holding company and several foreign sub holdings, support the CFO in overseeing all subsidiaries and investments within the group

  • Liaise with the finance counterparts within the group to ensure timely and concise reporting and advance the efficiency and quality by applying the newest technologies

  • Support the CFO in continuously improving accounting, financial control and financial planning systems, including the internal risk management and control systems, and the periodic assessment of its effectiveness

  • Responsible for the tracking of investment, cashflow planning, monitor/benchmark performance and the preparation and filing of financial statements according to accounting principles in Switzerland, the Netherlands and the US, including the coordination and preparation of adequate documentation for audit files to be used by CFO or our external auditors

  • Responsible for the preparation and filing of tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT, Stamp Duty, FATCA forms, etc.), compliance with tax rulings, coordination with tax advisors and reconciliation of tax assessments to tax filings

  • Responsible for maintaining and safeguarding the accuracy and completeness of master data within the group

  • In charge of the preparation of monthly/quarterly/yearly reports and the completion of the periodic asset valuation and support the CFO in reporting to the stakeholders

  • Assess the financial impact of legal and tax documentation related to a transaction, including reporting consequences

  • Ensure compliance with the Organizational Regulations and Corporate Governance Principles, all Egeria and ECM policies and applicable laws and regulations (e.g. AML, etc.)

  • Process capital calls for investments, prepare distributions of funds and support in treasury and liquidity management activities

  • Manage and develop the other team members within the finance department and support the CFO in various financial, IT- and other projects

  • Liaise with the EGS manager and support in the cost allocation to the different practices within the group, contribute to continuously improving the service offering

  • Responsibility for financial systems and ensuring that all management and control systems are fit for purpose on a group level

  • Able to work with and safeguard highly sensitive and confidential information

Key Qualifications

  • At least 10 years’ relevant work experience in accounting/finance, of which at least 2-3 years as a controller/finance manager in investment management/financial services

  • Solid understanding of tax, accounting, financial processes and regulatory environment related to a Swiss financial holding or investment group

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent German and English language skills, Dutch would be beneficial

  • Detail oriented and an ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong affinity with IT, experience with implementing and using modern accounting and portfolio management software is very beneficial

  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Applications

  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines

  • Self-starter with problem solving skills, the aptitude to think independently, and constantly look for better ways to operate and improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to take ownership for the tasks delegated

  • Master’s degree in accounting or finance, post graduate qualification in accounting, or related field

  • The Group Controller needs to be a solid sparring partner for his/her counterparts and able to work with all colleagues/specialists seamlessly.
